1. one of my largest fears are bugs, especially spiders. so personally, i think it's pretty damn brave when i kill a spider on my own. usually they're the teeny tiny ones, but hey, killing a spider is killing a spider. no way could i kill anything bigger than an ant. on a more serious note, one of the bravest things i've ever done is to pick up our dead kitten Tiger from our street. he was killed sometime in the night and my mom found him the next morning. she had to go to work, but asked my brother and i to take care of him. i was scared, because death is something that touches me very deeply. we were going to pick him up with a shovel, but when it came down to it, i just slowly and gently picked him up and wrapped him in a plastic bag. i couldn't look at him --if he was a bloody mess or had a crushed skull i'd just start bawling on the spot. my brother looked, and said it wasn't too bad. he then went on to bury our little guy. we miss ya, Tiger.
2. the meanest thing i've ever done and absolutely regret doing happened when i was in 5th grade. my best friend at the time had told me that her 6th grader cousin liked me. now this guy wasn't ugly or anything; he was actually pretty good looking. but i guess at the time i didn't think so. anyhow, i came up with the idea to trick her cousin, telling him that i liked him back. i still remember when she told him that i liked him to, he wrote me a love letter and signed it, "your boyfriend." that tripped me up, because i've never actually met the guy, only seen him from across the playground, and here he was telling me he was my boyfriend. i forgot how long we played that joke on him, but after a short while i wrote him a mean letter telling him how much i disliked him and how unattractive he was to me. i even made a comment saying how cuter his younger brother was compared to him. as the years went on we saw each other at the same jr high and we would eye each other but never say a word. looking back, i really hated myself for pulling such a prank. it was mean and ruthless, childish and perhaps even scarring. when i ran into my childhood best friend in college (the sitch never got between us, we remained good friends since) i asked her if she remembered what we did to her cousin. luckily she didn't, cause if she did, she'd probably hate me. but i retold the story to her anyway and she laughed in disbelief. in the end, i told her how sorry i was, and i asked her to apologize to her cousin for me, which she said she would pass the message. it felt good to apologize finally. i still have his love letter hidden in my closet. it's a bittersweet memory to reflex back on.
3. honestly, i am blessed to be surrounded by generous people who do nice things for me every now and then. it's hard to pinpoint one that was the nicest. one would be buying my flowers for no occasion. another would be cleaning and detailing my car for free. another would be declaring me as a godmother to their children. and another would be cooking a wonderful meal for me. i am really blessed in that aspect.
4. wow, i really have to dig in the memory bank for that one. i'm sure there's one, but nothing comes to mind. i'll get back to this question another time.
5. well if i did that it wouldn't be a secret, would it? anything i say will be considered "out of character" because a lot of people view me as a quiet shy person. unfortunately they find me more enjoyable when i'm drunk, but i can't blame them because i do let loose more often when i am, and i am having fun when intoxicated. my online personality is something that would also be considered OOC, because i write very freely. i've been told that my writing voice is largely different from how i am in RL. i don't mind it. i actually think my writing voice is my true voice. i'm just too shy to display it to the world in person.
What's one thing that you'd like to get done this weekend? Is there anything holding you back?
easy. get a full nights sleep and wake up refreshed and re-energized. what's holding me back? 4 hour feeding intervals to baby kitty. do i mind it? yeah, i'm a big lover of sleep. but this teaches me how it is to be a parent and what the responsibilities of parenting are. something i'm sure to find valuable and extremely helpful down the line. anything for baby boy, as long as he makes it.
other to do items on my lists include cleaning my room, taking care of Brownie, Raz, and the girls, doing laundry, staying track on my diet. none which will be accomplished this weekend, but hopefully within the next two weeks.
and since i forgot yesterday was Friday, with me sleep-deprived and all, here's my Friday Five.
1. How much time do you spend on the Internet daily?
2. What are your favorite 3 websites?
3. Do you eat at your computer?
4. Pick one and why - Reading the news online or in a newspaper?
5. How many people are on your instant messenger buddy list?
1. lately, since i've been on vacation and have discovered Vox, probably a good 3-4 hours. i do it while watching the tube and daytime soaps, so really time just flies on by as i watch and surf. i like exploring Vox and meeting new people here. my neighborhood is lonely, yo.
2. hmm... well, if checking my email doesn't count, i'd say i surf on over to Vox, YouTube, and Demens daily.
3. not really. sometimes. but rarely. what, mess up my one and only lovely PowerBook? psshha!
4. reading the news online, because i can find out what i wanna know in an instant, rather than searching the paper if it's in today's issue or not. plus, celebrity gossip and scandal? rarely in the Union-Tribune.
5. i don't really IM anymore. no time to, honestly. when i used to IM, it'd be in the wee wee hours of the morning. in fact, it was like a session, from 10pm-2am or something. can't handle that ish anymore. sleep calls! so, i guess back in the days, my BL had about 5 solid peeps.
hmm. what an interesting set of questions this week.

1. Are you named after anyone? If so, explain.
2. Do you have your children's names picked out already? If so, is there any significance?
3. If you were born a member of the opposite sex what would your name have been?
4. If you could re-name yourself what name would you pick and why?
5. Are there any mispronunciations/typos that people do w/ your name constantly?
before i start, does anyone know if there's a similar code that works on Vox to an lj-cut? i miss putting my stuff behind cuts. i ramble too long. i'm assuming the code lj-cut doesn't work here because this isn't LJ, but if i'm wrong someone please correct me. thanks. now on with the show.
1. my first name comes from a character on one of my mom's favorite soap operas. be it AMC, OLTL, or GH, or a primetime soap like Dallas, i'll never know. i don't think she even remembers exactly anymore, come to think of it. only that it was from a character from a soap. maybe that's why i'm subconsiously addicted to soaps and dramatic shows? both my middle name and nickname come from baby books, i think. all i really know is that my mom was very indecisive (huh. look at that, i got her trait) with the names and thus i was a 3-named child. bursgirl actually comes from my man, Bur, which itself is short for his actual name. but i lay claim to my man, as i should. thus, bursgirl.
2. yes. i'm actually excited and anticipating the day to have kids (when the time is right, mind you). i'm always thinking of names. personally, i would love 3 boys and a girl, but 2 boys would be fine, or one of each is good also. depends on how i handle the pains of labor and childbirth, or if i can deliver well physically. anyhow, my range of names have changed over the years, but i've settled onto a few favorites. a boy's name i adore is Kyan (Ryan w/a K), named after one of the Fab Five, and significant because my name starts with a K and i'm probably going to be one of those matchy-initial parents; meaning, if my initials were KM and my future spouse's were JM, then i'd purposely want my childrens' initials to also be either KM or JM. by the by, note to Bur: random initials selected, no meaning behind it. other boy names i love are Oliver, Joshua, and Isaiah. i like the sound of Joshua and Isaiah, and i really like Oliver because i've always liked that name and i want to nickname my boy Olie. it's cute. for girls, i haven't put as much thought into (see my wanting to have 2-3 boys come first? that's why). but one name i'm considering for a girl is Kaela. pronounced Kay-ella. not Superman-y, like Ka-El-A. yuck. i'm not Nicholas Cage, here.
3. if i was a male instead of a female, what would i have been named? no clue. something weird, i bet. i should ask my parents that question. but if i could choose my own name as a male, i'd go back to Oliver. then i would be called Olie, and my son, Olie Jr. haha.
4. re-name myself? huh. that's a toughy. i'm fairly satisfied with my 3 names, come to think of it. but i guess, maybe something unique or exotic? i don't know. i'll need to consult a name book.
5. my names are simple and common enough to pronouce correctly. all very classic names, actually. but there was an instance where i had an instructor chop up my name and it was ridiculous. it was the one and only instance that someone ever misprounounced my name, and it's stupid because my name is too common and classic to be ever said wrong. it's like, if my name was Mary? how can you mispronounce Mary? but he did. i never corrected him. i just laughed at the weirdness of it all. and, he was a total english speaker too. no other language or accent to place blame on. it was just him.

1. What talent(s) do you have that could make you famous?
2. If you could be famous for one day, what would you do?
3. If you were so famous that money was no object, where would you live?
4. If you could meet any famous person, who would it be?
5. What would be your famous catch phrase/quote/motto/last words?
1. if i really really really studied, i could become a classical pianist. or if it wasn't for my scholiosis and i was really bendy, a professional dancer. i'd love that. ooh, no; i know. i'd become a creative writer. put that imagination of mine to good use.
2. if i was famous, i'd probably become all vain --which is no good in reality-- so i'd want to be completely surrounded by screaming insane fans and papparazzi so that'd i'd instantly regret my celeb status and wish i was not famous anymore. haha. okay, wait, that doesn't answer the question. if i was famous, well, the responsible answer would be to use my celebrity status for some charity benefit, but pllleeeaase. i only get one day. so in that mindset, i would use my celebrity status to my benefit to get whatever i want, like free shopping sprees to promote products, get into the most exclusive clubs and restuarants, and mingle/become BFF with those listed on my 43 people account, which actually isn't much --it isn't even 43 yet-- but hey! i'm picky.
3. ooh where would i live, where would i live... well it would be a mansion because i do need all the rooms. as for where, well... initially i want to say Australia because i really want to go there. ooh, or New Zealand, for the view. but honestly, i probably would just want to live in San Diego because it's home and all my friends and family are here. there's no place like home.
4. anyone who knows me would say Brad Pitt, but alas, that is not true. hell, i don't even have him listed on my 43 people. someone who i would adore to meet is Ellen DeGeneres. she's so entertaining, i know we'd have a ball, and probably get hooked up at the same time! bonus!
5. nothing original. i'm into learning Japanese atm, so i'd probably popularize 'ja ne' to American slang. then all Japanese people would hate me for taking something that belonged to them and call me a poser. haha. ah.. such is the life of a celebrity.
